Softball has been a part of my life since I was 7 years old, shaping me into the athlete, coach, and mentor I am today. From my standout years at Magee High School to competing collegiately at Coahoma Community College and Lane College, I’ve carried the lessons of discipline, grit, and teamwork into every chapter of my journey, which has greatly influenced my approach to athlete development.
After my playing career, I transitioned into coaching in 2012 as a student coach at Coahoma Community College and never looked back. Since then, I’ve coached travel ball teams and led high school programs, building a reputation for developing athletes and winning championships. Over the past 5 years as the Head coach at Dallas Christian School, I’ve been honored as a multi-time District Coach of the Year, guided them to several district titles, and coached both a State Finalist (2023–2024) and a State Champion team at Dallas Christian School (2024–2025).
Today, I serve as the Head Softball Coach at Bishop Dunne Catholic School, where I’m committed to building a culture of excellence, discipline, and leadership. Beyond wins and awards, my greatest passion is preparing athletes to succeed not only on the field but also in life, which is reflected in my approach to softball coaching.
That same passion drives Building Leaders and Athletes (BLA), my training program dedicated to developing the complete athlete. Through specialized hitting, fielding, speed & agility, strength & conditioning, and team training, I focus on unlocking each player’s potential while instilling the mindset of a leader.

I’m Coach “AJ” Jenkins, and my mission is to build players who work hard, stay disciplined, and compete with purpose. Originally from Mississippi, I’ve made my mark here in Texas through years of basketball coaching, particularly in the AAU circuit, where I focus on athlete development and helping young athletes enhance both their game and mindset.
I’ve coached and mentored players from elementary through high school, honing their fundamentals, basketball IQ, and mental toughness. My approach is gritty and straightforward; I push players to exceed their own expectations, both on and off the court.
Every workout, every drill, and every conversation revolves around three core values: work ethic, toughness, and growth. I don’t just train basketball players; I build leaders. That’s the essence of what the BLA Ducks stand for, extending even into softball coaching as we develop well-rounded athletes.
